For HOT MESS, SMS3D and Jakub Kubica collaborate to create a soundscape and digital landscape, exploring the imaginary surroundings of artificial life. Fascinated by the idea of the digital expansion of our natural habitats, SMS3D seeks to continually develop new digital materials, textures, and surfaces for an imagined layer of reality. These new materialities are complemented by and come into symbiotic dialogue with Jakub Kubica’s sounds. With The Origin of an Artificial Biotope, the artists’ investigate the notion of needing an origin, a need which lacks equivalency in the digital realm.
