For HOT MESS, Markus Gley will be exhibiting two captivating paintings in bright, energetic colours. At first, the canvases seem to be populated with repetitive symbols, and then two portraits emerge, one with the eyes of a snake, the other with the eyes of a frog. The paintings are empty of meaning, finding themselves in this world “between nothing and nothing”. Gley himself is inspired by music, currently the last album of Tool – Fear Inoculum.
Markus Gley (Greifswald, 1980) studied at the UDK under Burkhard Held and lives and works in Greifswald and Berlin.
