For HOT MESS, Johannes Schön will be presenting four works in black pigment ink on 56x76cm 300g cotton fibre paper. As can be understood from their titles, the works were created consecutively on the 7th and 8th of November 2020 at the artist’s studio in his country home, Stiftshaus in Metelen during quarantine.
German born, Johannes Schön moved from London to Berlin in 2006. He worked for galleries and art institutions such as Esther Schipper, KW Institute for Contemporary Art and curated the exhibitions and residency program of Berlin’s legendary artist off space .hbc.
His observations on archives and documentation through the ages, the nuances of communication, and the possibility of miscommunication in interpretation; especially in the translation of language is referenced in his work. Communication from picture drawings to words.
