For HOT MESS, Colette Vermeulen is showing sculptures made from recycled card board and paper pulp. Colette explores energy of emotions through colour, texture and movement. The pieces are a translation of feelings, a mood or atmosphere that she can’t express with language. She finds that the material allows her to express herself in an instinctual kind of way, moulding in the form a certain essence of feeling or reflection on any given day. Colette intentionally keeps a strong sense of the manual labour that went into them. The sculptures are influenced by geometric shapes, architecture, as well as shapes found in nature and in the human body.
Colette Vermeulen (b.1984) is a Dutch artist and designer based in Berlin. She graduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 2012 with a MA in fashion design.
