For HOT MESS Julian Simon is presenting three paintings.
The artist has a keen interest in impressionistic and realistic painting. Inspired by the praised, limited colour palette of Anders Leonard Zorn (1860–1920), Simon employs only seven colours in his works: black, white, ultramarine blue, ochre, burnt sienna, burnt umber and crimson, allowing him to depict the skin tones and lighting that is particularly dear to him. Simon offers a realistic and offbeat perspective on the Generation Y, immortalising forgotten, carefree, and intimate moments on his canvases.
