For HOT MESS, Dorothee Diebold is exhibiting one painting with acrylic and pigments on shaped canvas.
The artist’s work explores the entangled relationship between human beings and the environment which surrounds them – asking whether a ‘pure’ nature exists at all or if the idea remains a coercion of will. Is there a natural world beyond our cultural perceptions or have we created an artificial landscape formatted by our desires of omnipotence?
Whether nature exists also includes the question of whether there is a reality. Dorothee explores the different levels of perception of reality with the means of painting, its possibilities and expansion. The intermediate state of these levels of reality can also be seen in her photographs and videos.
